Designing a Better Competition Law Framework for the EU AI Industry

In this two-part thinkpiece, Chad Patrick Osorio and Jacob Schaal (London School of Economics) summarize recent literature on how Big Tech circumvents EU competition law, gobbling up potential competition through quasi-mergers and acqui-hires. They propose how EU law can be modified in order to accommodate this, primarily additional metrics which trigger competition oversight review other than financials, including access to data, market share, and risk (as defined by the EU AI Act).
